RUSAL says railway rapture stops raw materials supplies to Achinsk

MOSCOW, Jun 10 (PRIME) -- The Achinsk alumina refinery of Russian aluminum producer RUSAL has been cut off raw material supplies after a railway rapture, RUSAL said in a statement Wednesday.

"The supplies of raw materials to the plant have been fully stopped as of today, which is why normative reserves are close to a critical minimum," the company said.

"The company is in negotiations with Russian Railways on a fast organization of raw material shipment  to the Achinsk aluminum refinery by bypasses and after completion of repairs, on ensuring that the trains with nepheline ore are given priority to replenish the technological reserves of the plant in case train traffic is not fully resumed soon."  

Supplies to the Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant can be undermined by the situation, RUSAL said.
